The Back 40 is a plot to work. Forty acres of farmland: the most remote, rural, rutty parcel. When the bears fruit, it is an affirmation and a gift.

"My intuition has redeemed me, maybe. I am feeling the sunshine of good fortune now."

When it is barren, it's that damn sour lot.

A black and white artistic drawing of a woman's face with her eyes closed, set against a background of American flag stars. In front of the drawing, there are metallic jewelry pieces including a bracelet, a ring, and earrings.

I come from a place that may be regarded as the back forty. I left, and in time created my own back forty; a space dug out to whittle away, to till, to watch it with intent.

Black and white drawing of a bird with its beak open, emitting a bright light or energy outward into a dark background.

My work celebrates all those who do the same. I create distinct jewelry because it endures: it is exhibited, cherish, flaunted, tucked in, squirreled away, barred under lock and key. It's personal; it is the last to go.

A colorful, artistic depiction of a scarecrow made from various household objects standing in a field of plants with a red and black fiery sky background on the left side of the image. On the right side, there is a silver necklace pendant resembling a scarecrow made from metallic parts hanging against a black background with white star patterns.

Black and white sketch of a hand holding a baseball glove with a baseball, with a ring resting on the index finger and a silver skull ring at the bottom of the image.

Like the back forty, there may be some life yet.
